Coach Tom - Head Coach

Coach Tom Benge has been personally involved in fitness and training for over 20 years during which, much of that time has been spent personally training people from 1 on 1 through small and large groups.  Personally, he started as a weight lifter and body builder and there soon after became an avid student of fitness and soon began training others.  For over 14 years he was the lead trainer responsible for the physical conditioning program of police recruits at a municipal police training academy as well as being the lead in administering the physical agility test for his police department.

Tom has also been a strength and conditioning coach to a college swim team and basketball team, lectured numerous times on the topics of fitness and nutrition and served as the Fitness Manager at an Athletic Club.  Thomas is a Level 1 CrossFit Ceritified Coach, NASM Certified Personal Trainer, and an Apex Fitness Professional.  He has been familiar with CrossFit training methods for several years, but as been dedicated CrossFitter for over 9 months.  Coach Tom is excited about CrossFit not only from a health and fitness standpoint, but because it is something that he gets to do with his awesome wife (Coach Nicole).  Coach Tom is personally mentored by Coach Rick Santa Maria of CrossFit Chula Vista, CA.  In addition to his extensive training background, Thomas is passionate about seeing other people succeed and has been an educator of adult learners for 15 yrs.

Nicole Benge has been involved with fitness and training sense 1997. What started as a personal journey towards a better physique and improved mental strength has now come full circle and Nicole is excited to motivate and inspire others. Nicole’s goal as your coach is to help you realize that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to, give you the “tools” you need to succeed and share in the fulfillment that comes with reaching and even surpassing your goals!

Coach Nicole’s early fitness training was focused primarily on traditional weight training and bodybuilding. After some years of “teeter-tottering” with success utilizing this kind of traditional training, Nicole’s husband (Coach Tom) introducted her to a method of training that would give her the long term success she’s longed for.  Coach Nicole has been a dedicated Crossfitter sense April 08, and is a Level 1 CrossFit Coach as well as a CrossFit certified Olympic Lifting Coach.  Nicole maintains a general knowledge of anatomy and nutrition and is able to effectively share this knowledge with others.

I, Coach Nicole, smile....am honored to be a coach under my husband Tom’s leadership who is BreakThrough’s Head Coach.  Tom & I have been married sense 1999 and we have two beautiful daughters together.  Our daughters are CrossFit superstars in the making!
